This basic apple crumble recipe is the ultimate comfort food dessert. It's just sweet stewed apple under a plain sweet crumble topping. It makes no claims to be fancy but it is so so good!
Peel and core the apples then cut into cubes. Put in a saucepan with about 30ml of water. Sprinkle with the cinnamon. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Make the crumble topping by rubbing the butter into the flour. When is it like breadcrumbs, add the sugar and mix in.
Put the apples into an ovenproof dish. Cover with the crumble mixture. Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes.
Serve warm with custard or ice-cream.
