Ingredients

plain white flour

salt

bicarbonate of soda

Instructions
Put the oven on to heat up to 220C and put a baking tray in the oven ready to bake the bread on.
Chop up the butter and put it in the mixer bowl with the flour, salt and bicarbonate of soda. Mix on a low speed until the ingredients have combined.
Add the liquid ingredients and continue to mix until a soft dough forms. Increase the speed a little and continue to mix for 2 minutes.
Flour a work surface and shape the dough into a round, about 2 ½ cm thick.
Transfer the dough onto the hot baking tray. Cut down into the dough to make a deep cross on the top.
Bake in the oven for 25-35 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
