I made these hot honey almonds in the air fryer and they make the most addictive snack! So easy to make with just 3 ingredients and totally delicious. Enjoy them as they are or use them as a salad topper.
I've recently become a huge fan of hot honey and love how it's so versatile. It's a great ingredient to spice up an everyday sweet or savoury meal. I love hot honey on toast, on salads, on roasted vegetables. It's a revelation!
So, it was only a matter of time before I decide to try my honey roasted nuts with hot honey and also in the air fryer rather than in the oven. Of course, if you prefer to roast rather than air fry the nuts, do check out my honey roasted cashew nuts. The recipe is very similar. These hot honey almonds are just a little bit spicier!
Ingredient notes for hot honey roasted almonds
To make these air fried almonds you'll need:
- Butter - I used unsalted butter this time but salted butter would work well as well. If you use unsalted you could even add a small pinch of salt to bring out the flavours.
- Hot honey - I used JDs hot smoked chipotle honey. However, you could use a different brand too. If you just have regular honey, add a small amount of chilli powder.
- Almonds - Although I have used almonds here, you could swap them for a different nut. Cashew nuts or pecans would work well instead.
How to make hot honey almonds in the air fryer
These hot honey air fried almonds are very easy to make. First just melt the butter and honey together in a microwave proof bowl. Or in a small saucepan.
Then stir the almonds into the melted hot honey and butter.
Line the air fryer crisper plate with a piece of non-stick baking paper and pour the almonds onto it. Spread them out so they are in a single layer.
Then air fry for about 8-10 minutes, stirring half way through.
Can you adapt the recipe?
Yes of course! Try using different nuts instead of almonds. You could also add an extra pinch of chilli powder depending on the strength of the hot honey you are using.
If you like sweet and salty flavours, season with a little salt after the nuts come out of the air fryer.
What to eat with hot honey almonds
You can just eat these hot honey almonds as a snack. They are perfect for parties or when watching tv. They are very very moreish.
You can also use them as an ingredient in other recipes. I think they are delicious in salads. Why not try them instead of pecans in this roasted vegetable and bacon salad? or in this brussels sprouts coldslaw?
How long do they keep for?
If you store them in an air-tight container they should stay fresh for up to 2 weeks. I always find they disappear much more quickly than that though!

Hi Jill
They are best when they are first made I think. We always seem to eat them up quite quickly so I need to experiment with keeping them in an airtight container for a while and checking how they last. Corina
