These air fryer cod parcels are ideal for an easy dinner or even a date night meal. They're easy to make, mess free and totally delicious. If you're looking for an alternative to traditional battered fish and chips, give these a try!

There are so many great things about this simple fish dinner recipe.
Firstly, because everything is cooked in a parcel, the air fryer doesn't get messy and the clean up after the meal is a breeze.
Secondly, you can prep the parcels in advance and just keep them in the fridge until you're ready to cook. Perfect for busy night or date night when you don't want to spend too long actually cooking!
Thirdly, they are incredibly tasty! Fish, capers, lemon, butter and seasoning is a classic combination.
What more do I need to say? Make them! Even if you don't have an air fryer, you can just put everything in the oven instead. Just add a few minutes to the cooking time.
Ingredient notes for air fryer cod parcels
To make this meal you'll need:
- Fish - I use skinless and boneless cod but you could replace it with haddock, pollock or any other fish, even salmon or trout. You don't have to use skinless or boneless but as the skin won't crisp up with this cooking method, I like to use skinless if I can.
- Capers
- Garlic - I like to use fresh garlic for this but you could use a paste or puree
- Butter - You can use salted or unsalted. I like to use salted for savoury meals but it really doesn't matter as you can just add little extra seasoning if you feel it needs it.
- Lemon juice - As this is quite a simple recipe, I like to use freshly squeezed lemon juice but you could use a bottled lemon juice if you want. For extra lemont flavour grate in some of the zest too.
- Seasoning - A little salt and black pepper

How to make air fryer cod parcels
This recipe is reallly easy to make. Just take a large piece of kitchen foil. Spray on a little oil and add the fish, green beans and all the other ingredients. If you want you can grate in a little lemon zest before squeezing the lelmon, just to make it extra lemony!
Air fry at 195C for about 15 minutes. You may need to give it a little longer depending on the thickness of the cod so unwrap the parcel a little and check carefully that it is cooked before fully unwrapping.
I use a dual basket air fryer so I like to cook chips in the second basket at the same time.
My Air fryer
I currently have the Swan Retro dual basket air fryer. I love how attractive the retro range is from Swan and this air fryer is perfect for a family. It's an 8 litre air fryer so has loads of space inside!
Can you adapt the recipe?
Yes of course. There are loads of ways to adapt it. You can use a different fish. You could even use chicken although it might take a little longer to cook.
You can also add different vegetables. I added green beans but broccoli for example would be delicious!
You could also add little chilli for more of a kick.
What can you do with the leftovers?
You can store any leftovers in the fridge although I do think this meal is much nicer when freshly made. It would be better to prep it in advance and then air fry it when you want to eat it rather than cooking and reheating later.
If you do want to store any leftovers then they will keep in the fridge for up to three days.
What can you eat with this air fried cod?
I like to air fry some chips or fries in the other basket of the air fryer. However this meal is also delicious with mashed potato or bread.
Can you cook it in the oven?
Yes you can. I would recommend baking it for about 20 minutes at about 200C.

Such a delicious cod recipe! My husband loved this, even though he'd probably have chosen battered fish if I'd given him the choice!
