Have you tried air fried gnocchi yet? These spicy ones are so tasty and make a delicious side dish or snack. Soft and fluffy inside and crispy on the outside, they are hard to stop eating.

Until recently I had only ever cooked gnocchi in the more traditional ways, boiling them and then frying them to add a slight crispness. Well, now that I have started to cook them in the air fryer, it has totally changed the way I like to eat gnocchi.
When you air fry gnocchi, you don't need to boil them first. You can just season and lightly oil them and then put them in the air fryer. It's so much easier!
I have used one of my favourite spice blends on these gnocchi. I use a very similar one on air fried chips/fries and crushed potatoes too. I'd definitely recommend you give it a go. But, feel free to use your own spice blend instead if you want.
What ingredients do you need for air fried gnocchi?
To make these crispy air fried gnocchi you'll need:
- Gnocchi - I used bought gnocchi but if you have made your own then use them. Here is my recipe for homemade gnocchi. I also have a recipe for gnocchi made with leftover roasted vegetables.
- Oil - I used olive oil but any vegetable oil would work.
- Salt - I think salt just helps them to crisp up but if you are using bought gnocchi they can be quite salty anyway so it is better to use less and season with a little more after you've air fried them.
- Herbs and spices - I used a mix of smoked paprika, chilli powder, garlic powder and oregano.

How to make spicy air fried gnocchi
These spicy gnocchi are so easy to make. First just put the gnocchi in a bowl and drizzle with oil and the seasonings. Stir well so the gnocchi are fully coated in the spices.
Then just put them in the air fryer and cook for about 12 minutes. Air fryers can vary so you may need to cook them for a little longer to get the perfect crispiness!

Can you adapt the recipe?
Yes of course. Feel free to use a different spice blend instead of the spices I've used.
How long do they keep fresh for?
Like with most fried (and air fried) foods, it's best to eat them as soon as they come out of the air fryer for maximum crispiness. However, they will keep for up to three days in the fridge. Before eating them, just pop them in the air fryer to reheat. They will take about 4 minutes in a preheated air fryer.
When to eat air fried gnocchi?
I think air fried gnocchi are really versatile. You can eat them as a side dish instead of roasted potatoes or chips/fries.
They are also a great appetiser. You can serve them as a starter with dips for example.
You can also make them just as snack. Who wouldn't like to watch a film on the sofa with a bowl of these to nibble on?
