This healthy Vita Coco Banana Blueberry and Spinach smoothie is perfect for getting your 5 a day as well as keeping you hydrated!

If you're wondering what Vita Coco is, it's just natural coconut water (99%) plus a little added fruit sugar and vitamin C. It's a great ingredient for using in smoothies and a great way of getting a few extra nutrients into your diet.
It's great in fruit smoothies, vegetable smoothies and even those smoothies with oats, peanut butter and chocolate! It's the perfect antidote to all the overindulgence of the Christmas party season and that is why I initially created this healthy Vita Coco banana blueberry and spinach smoothie.
It's also a really easy smoothie to make without you needing to spend lots of time chopping up fruit. I have to admit that I can be a bit lazy with making sure I eat my 5 a day. Sometimes after making sure the children are eating well, tidying up after them and entertaining them, the last thing I get around to doing is picking up a piece of fruit to eat myself. Luckily, this Vita Coco, blueberry and banana smoothie is really quick and easy to make!
It may take slightly more work to make a smoothie than buying one but I made sure that all the ingredients for this one can be thrown together in less than a minute. Bananas are so quick to peel, the spinach was already washed and the blueberries were straight from the freezer so it really was something I could make very quickly.
Ingredient notes for Vita Coco smoothie
To make this smoothie you'll need:
- Vita Coco - Although you could use a different brand of coconut water.
- Banana - This makes the smoothie lovely and sweet.
- Blueberries - I used frozen blueberries as they help keep it lovely and chilled. You could use a different frozen berry.
- Spinach - It's a great way to eat some green vegetables. If you really don't want vegetables in your smoothie, you could miss it out though.
How to make Vita Coco smoothie
This smoothie is so easy to make. Just put everything in a blender and blitz.
Can you taste the spinach?
Although the spinach does colour the smoothie, it doesn't add a lot of falvour. No one would know they were drinking their greens with this! Perfect for encouraging fussy kids! Or partners!
Can you adapt the recipe?
Yes of course. Feel free to use different berries or a different brand of coconut water too.
You can also make it a little sweeter by adding a spoonful of honey or agave nectar if you like a sweeter smoothie.
